Kick Off Your Summer On A High Note!
The 9th Annual Snowmass Chili Pepper & Brew Fest combines three fiery components into one smokin' weekend, June 8 and 9th, 2012.
The International Chili Society will hold chili competitions and tastings, while microbrewers face off in a prestigious summer ale competitions with brew sampling sessions for festival-goers. This year’s format is evolving to focus primarily on the brews on Friday, with chili tastings and music rounding it out. Saturday’s talent level is increasing to new heights and an even more dynamic full day of fun Snowmass-style … stay tuned!

Snowmass Rodeo
Celebrating its 39th season, the
Snowmass Rodeo is the oldest continuously running community rodeo in
Colorado. Authentic western fun for the whole family includes cowboys
and cowgirls showing their daring skills in bull riding, team roping,
barrel racing and bronco riding. Lil’ buckaroos can compete in the calf
scramble and in mutton bustin’. Shop for western merchandise while the
kids explore the petting zoo, take a pony ride and ride the mechanical
bull. Enjoy the best ribs and BBQ chicken in the West provided by
Aspen’s famous Hickory House. Full bar also available. Enjoy a
campfire cowboy sing-along and marshmallow roast complete a perfect
Colorado evening.

Snowmass Free Thursday Night Concert Series
This very popular free concert series draws crowds by the thousands to a comfortable outdoor venue with a spectacular mountain backdrop. Bring a blanket or low lawn chair and a picnic basket of finger foods for the ultimate al fresco experience. Beer and wine are available for purchase at inexpensive prices; grilled foods are also offered. A Family Fun Zone entertains kids with anything from a bouncy house to face painting, juggling and more. A memorable evening for all whether you want to chill or dance up a storm all night.

Snowmass Half and Half Charity Run
One of the most beautiful courses in Colorado! Half path/half alpine mountain trail. Loop course starts/finishes near Base Village, Snowmass. Follow scenic Brush and Owl Creek paths as well as the Tom Blake Trail (single tract alpine mountain trail with shallow stream crossing). There are steep climbs and sharp descents at altitude, but runners/walkers will be rewarded with spectacular views from far above the Town of Snowmass. USATF certified. Free ¼ mile kid’s fun run as well. Proceeds to benefit Aspen Homeless Shelter and Hospice of the Valley.

Master of the Mass Snowmass Enduro
Master of the Mass, a new a four-stage, three-day mountain biking race in Snowmass is set for July 13-15, 2012. This Enduro Mountain Bike Race includes a variety of terrain including a chainless downhill, cross-country, downhill and super-downhill stages. The ultimate challenge – all racers must choose one bike to race on for all disciplines. Parties and events will surround the weekend of mountain biking in one of the most beautiful settings in the Rockies.
Snowmass Village is one of the only places in Colorado with a trail system that has over 4,000 vertical feet of continuous, descending terrain from the top of a chairlift. Unlike any other race, riders will tackle more than 8,000 vertical feet of descending terrain in the four-stage race.
The pro division will have a $3,000 prize purse. Registration will open May 15, 2012 at www.aspensnowmass.com and the price for registration will be announced soon.

Tentative Schedule & Preliminary Course Information:
Friday, July 13 – 4 p.m. – Super-Downhill (Time Trial)
The crown jewel of the race is the first stage with a drop of more than 4,000 feet from the top of Elk Camp Chair all the way to the rodeo parking lot. There is not a longer lift served descent in the United States. The course will feature Vapor, Government, Anaerobic Nightmare, Highline and Lowline trails. A DJ, drinks and welcome party will follow in Snowmass base village. Saturday, July 14 – 10 a.m. – Cross-Country Race (Mass Start)
Beginning at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola this ride will incorporate the best Cross-Country trails Snowmass has to offer including: Sway, Government (West to East), Village Bound and Cross Mountain. The ride will finish with a ride down Valhalla (the new Gravity Logic trail) and finish in Snowmass base village. Saturday, July 14 – 3 p.m. – Chainless Downhill (Time Trial)
Begin at the top of Elk Camp Gondola and descend down Snowmass Way, the new Funnel trail and finish in Base Village. An after-party will continue in Snowmass base village. Sunday, July 15 – 11 a.m. – Downhill (Time Trial)
Each racer will have one run down Snowmass’ famed Pro Downhill course accessed from the top of the Village Express chairlift and finish in Base Village. Practice for the downhill will start at 9a.m. An award ceremony and closing party will follow at 1 p.m. in Snowmass base village.

12 Hours of Snowmass
An endurance mountain bike race on the world-class trails of Snowmass Village. Compete solo or in teams of two, three, or up to eight riders. The race is a benefit for Aspen Youth Center.

is a drop-in youth center offering a variety of summer, after school and outreach programs for youth in grades 4-12. We provide a safe and supportive environment for youth to connect, learn and grow.

Course Desctiption:
0.0 mi: Start at new base village and climb up service road toward the mall and the base of Coney Glade Lift
0.3 mi: Service Road turns RIGHT below Base of Coney Glade Lift and above Water Plant
0.4 mi: LEFT on to Village Bound single track – keep climbing!
1.2 mi: Climbing Village Bound – you should be at same elevation as Top of Burlingame Lift – Bear RIGHT – Keep climbing.
1.8 mi: Base of Sam’s Knob Lift – follow dirt road for 100 yds, turn LEFT on Village Bound single track.
2.4 mi: Right Turn on Cross Mountain/K.A.R. single track.
2.5 mi: LEFT turn on Cross Mountain trail (K.A.R. continues straight & uphill)
2.6 mi: RIGHT turn on service road (go through short tunnel)
2.9 mi: LEFT turn on 2-track road – pass by Ullrhof Restaurant.
3.0 mi: LEFT on Cross Mountain trail.
3.3 mi: turn RIGHT on single track after crossing the trestle bridge.
4.4 mi: Turn RIGHT on dirt road for 30 feet, then LEFT back onto Cross Mountain Trail single track.
5.2 mi: Cross Mountain Trail forms T-intersection with Government Trail – turn LEFT.
Head down Powerline, taking a left on Tom Blake at the bottom of the Powerline DH.
Take the Tom Blake Trail and take it to Faraway Road.
Turn left of the paved Faraway Road for 100yds then go right on Tom Blake Trail.
8.7 mi: Continue to Funnel work road, turn right and decend to the start/finish.
The start/finish and team handoff is in the new base village, the course will come directly through it:
Head across skier pedestrian bridge and take an immediate left turn crossing under the bridge you just rode across. Make a sharp left turn and head on to the new base village riding on the bricks headed uphill towards and past the volleyball courts. The last section of bricks in the village constitutes the relay exchange zone. Head to the left of the steps as well as the left of the volleyball court and continue uphill on the singletrack climb over the bridge and to the road section by the Village Mall. The Second Annual event is presented by 3ZERO3 Motorsport. Catch the road rally from Denver to Snowmass via Independence Pass.

8:00am : Caravan from Denver, over Independence Pass with 2-3 professional photographers in tow. Back road driving preferred.
1:00PM Lunch. Scheduled, most likely in Minturn/Leadville.

10:00AM FREE Motorsports expo to open on Mall. Open until 4pm on Sat.

Blast the Mass
The prestigious Mountain States Cup Series brings the 9th Annual Blast the Mass to Snowmass. Drawing over 1,000 top regional competitors, Blast the Mass launches bikers through extreme downhill and Super-D terrain for regional champion titles. Movies, music, demonstrations and awesome viewing locations make this a thrilling experience for friends and family, as well as participants.
Time: All day, followed by evening events
Cost: FREE for spectators (lift and gondola tickets sold for additional cost)
