Firefall and Fireworks

Firefall - Formedin Boulder in 1975 Firefall was founded by Flying Burrito Brothers RickRoberts, and Jock Bartley, who had been Tommy Bolin's replacement inZephyr.  Known as an album-oriented rock band, Firefall put out a largenumber of hits such as, "You Are the Woman", which peaked at #9 on theBillboard charts along with "Just Remember I Love You" (#11 in 1977) and"Strange Way" (#11 in 1978). Firefall has toured extensively in the U.S.,including three trips to Alaska, Europe and Japan.  The group enduresbecause of the strength and integrity of their music and in concert, and canplay over an hour of hits and popular radio recognizable tunes.  Firefallis known for their energy and spontaneity that is evident on stage and in thestudio.

Beausoleil

Beausoleil - For thepast 34 years Lafayette, Louisiana's Beausoleil has carried   thetorch of tradition while continuing to go through uncharted waters withingenuity and innovation. Their latest release "Alligator Purse", is not only avibrant testament to Beausoleil's healthy spirit but is easily their mostadventuresome  record yet. Since their inception in 1975, Beausoleil hasnot only spearheaded a cultural Renaissance but has elevated Cajun music to oneof domestic and international acclaim.  Along the way, they have appearedregularly on Garrison Keilor's A Prairie Home Companion and garnered 10 Grammynominations. In 1998 they became the first Cajun band to win a Grammy for theirL'Amour Ou La Folie effort in the traditional folk category.  Whilethey've introduced their sources of inspiration to new audiences, they've alsodaringly blended Zydeco, Tex-Mex, western swing, blues, New Orleans traditionaljazz and Caribbean calypso into their framework. 

Papa Grows Funk

All the requisite ingredients foran ear-tickling musical gumbo are here; steaming Hammond, chinky guitar,wailing sax, and, of course, a rhythm section heavy enough to keep you anchoredto the dance floor. The band embodies the soul of New Orleans-fun, junky,unpredictable and energetic.

Pure Prairie League

Pure Prairie League - Pure Prairie League, an influential American country-rock band,whose roots can be found back in 1969 Southern Ohio with Craig Fuller, Tom McGrail,  Jim Caughlan, and John David Call. Vince Gill would eventually replace Fulleras lead vocalist (before moving on to a successful solo career).  Theoriginal stage band was Fuller, McGrail, Powell, Phil Stokes on bass, and RobinSuskind on guitar and mandola. His steel guitar greatly improved the countrysongs and sparked hot guitar duels with Fuller that contributed greatly to therock/country, signature sound of the band. PPL's biggest hits include Fuller'scountry rock classic, "Amie", and "Two Lane Highway", and the musicallyless-representative pop song, "Let Me Love You Tonight."   PPL isknown to play true to its original form attracting fans to hear the music theway it was played originally.

Carrie Rodriguez

CarrieRodriguez - A Mexican-American singer-songwriter and thedaughter of Texan singer-songwriter David Rodriguez and well-known Texaspainter Katy Nail, and is the granddaughter of prolific Texas essayist FrancesNail. Rodriguez is known for her unique voice that's subtle and a little smokyand sweet with spunky attitude to go with it. She sings and plays the fiddle,mandobird and tenor guitar. She was discovered by Chip Taylor playing withAmericana artist Hayseed during theSouthby Southwest music festival in Austin,Texas, in 2001.He then invited her to perform with him in Europe. They teamedup to record  2002's Let's Leave This Town, and have since releasedseveral albums together.

 

Tab Benoit

TabBenoit - Hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Benoit isa blues guitarist, musician and singer that plays with a style that is acombination of Swamp blues, Soul blues and Chicago blues. He plays Fenderguitars and writes his own music compositions. A guitar player since histeenage years, he hung out at the Blues Box, a music club and cultural centerin Baton Rouge run by guitarist Tabby Thomas. Playing guitar alongside Thomas,Raful Neal, Henry Gray and other high-profile regulars at the club, Benoit learnedthe blues first-hand from a faculty of living blues legends. He formed a trioin 1987 and began playing clubs in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. He begantouring other parts of the south two years later and started touring more ofthe United States in 1991- and he continues to this day.Benoit landed arecording contract with the Texas-based Justice Records and released a seriesof well-received recordings, beginning in 1992 with Nice and Warm, an albumthat prompted comparisons to blues guitar heavyweights like Albert King, AlbertCollins and even Jimi Hendrix. Despite the hype, Benoit has done his best overthe years to maintain a commitment to his Cajun roots- a goal that often eludedhim when past producers and promoters tried to turn him and his recordings in arock direction, often against his better instincts.

The Holmes Brothers

TheHolmes Brothers - A vocal and instrumentaltrio originally from Christchurch, Virginia, mixing sounds from blues soul,gospel, and rhythm & blues.  They have released nine original albums,with two reaching the top five on the Billboard Blues Albums chart. They havegained a following by playing regularly at summer folk, blues, gospel, and jazzfestivals. They've recorded with Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel, Odetta, PhoebeSnow, Willie Nelson,  Roseanne Cash, Levon Helm and Joan Osborne, and havegigged all over the world-including performing for President Bill Clinton. Theywon the Blues Music Award from the Memphis-based Blues Foundation for Band ofthe Year in 2005 and for the Soul Blues Album of the Year in 2008. USA Todaycalls The Holmes Brothers' music "Rootsy R&B, gospel and country. Theyare glorious, full of soul and surprises." The New Yorker says, "TheHolmes Brothers are capable of awesome achievements." National Public Radioadds, "Their voices are rough enough for a juke joint and smooth enough forchurch."
